July 30-Aug 2 (Fri-Mon): Metro
Regatta
More
information will be upcoming. A substantial number of volunteers are needed
to make this event a success as well because of the length of the regatta.
Areas where help is needed is similar to the opening regatta. The majority
of the volunteer help is needed for July 31, August 1 and 2, 2010.
August 12 (Thu): SYC Raft-up (in
Chester during Chester Race Week)
This
raft up is one of the highlights of the summer's favorite race (and sailing
social) week. More details will appear here and in the weekly SYC
newsletter so stay tuned and plan to attend.

SYC Volunteers needed:
This year is
a big year for SYC and regattas. In addition to our annual opening regatta,
we are responsible to put on the Metro Area Regatta, which traditionally
occurs on the Natal Day weekend. While we will be seeking our usual
volunteer kitchen, race and support crews in the near future, we have an
urgent need now to recruit people to help with planning for and recruiting
sponsors. If you are able to give some time to help with this endeavor,
please contact James Craig or let Pat know via club voice mail
(469-8590) or in person.
Volunteers' Sign-in Book:
The volunteer sign-in book (in the
club-house lobby) has been redesigned for your convenience, being now
organized by name. Now, it will be easier to log your time and
efforts, which help determine who to allocate marinas to versus mooring
field. (This is how a self-help works!) If you find that your name is
not in the book please let me know as soon as possible.
SYC Annual Membership Dues – New Option:
SYC has a new option for paying annual club membership dues
for Regular and Ordinary members (administered by the Base NPF division. (We will work on getting this option available for Associate members
for next season.) Regular Members who provide their Service Number may use
either a void
cheque or the Aquittance role/Pay Allotment system. Barb Churnside will be administering this new membership
process, and will be contacting all Regular and Ordinary members to see if
they are interested in using it. The deadline to contact Barb is April
1st for the 2010 dues.
· Ordinary Members require a void check for monthly payments (CANNOT be automatically
taken from pension cheques).
· Regular and Ordinary require a cheque to cover NSYA, Bar Levy, and
Benevolent Funds.
· Membership information (Name, mailing and physical addresses, phone
number).
New Members:
You might notice a quick message on the PSP screens that are
around the base, including the one in SYC by the bar. It is the first of
many ways to get our message out to expand our membership and is an
invitation to the military members and their families to come out and try
SYC. If you have any ideas, please let us know!
Newsletter and Website Content:
If you have something that you would like in the newsletter for
the week (deadline Sunday), or on the website (asap), please let us know by simply
responding to this email and we will endeavour to get it out to the SYC
membership!.
