SYC Facilities Overview

The Shearwater Yacht Club is not just the “friendliest club in the Halifax harbour” but boasts the best location, being nestled behind McNabs Island and being just minutes from the open waters. The club is located on the Dartmouth side of the Halifax Harbour, at 63 31' 17.13261'W' and 44 37' 43.69343''N. By land, we can be found on the Dartmouth side of the Harbour (at the border of Dartmouth and Eastern Passage) just off Pleasant Street and opposite one of the entrances to CFB Shearwater. 

Compared with the other local yacht clubs, SYC is in an excellent location for shelter from the elements. (During Hurricane Juan (2003) our member boats sustained the least amount of storm damage of all HRM yacht clubs.)  We are also well-located for quick access to off-shore cruising and racing, and we are only a 30 minute sail to downtown Halifax.

The club marina and mooring facilities have been significantly upgraded in recent years, offering members services such as:

• Marina berths for 60 yachts with water on the docks.
• Moorings for 35 yachts.
• Launching ramp.
• Shower and laundry facilities

• 2 large outdoor decks (upper and lower)
• Meeting rooms with capacities from 10-90
