Beer Bottle Racing wrap-up: Many
thanks to George Carson for the delicious prime rib dinner that was
served on Saturday - I believe it must have been th best deal in town for a
price of $12.00. Thanks so much, as always, to the great group of
people who attended. Kudos, however, are in order for our eleven
Dartmouth Yacht Club colleagues who also attended the dinner.
In
addition to the great food, we also acknowledged some of the winners
from our winter BBR series and the DYC-SYC BBR challenge.

number of penalties- Ed Morrisey; greatest lobster snagger-Shirley

a very valiant and competative effort by our SYC team, Dartmouth Yacht
Club has again come out of the competition as the winner for the BBR inter-club
challenge. Congratulations to DYC Rear Commodore, Donna Gouthro, and
her spirited team of BBR players - we look forward to seeing you on the club
floors again next year!! The overall prizes for the challenge went to: Rick
Main (SYC) - 1st; Joan Backman (DYC) - 2nd and Pat and
Glenda - 3rd. Thank you so much to all our SYC players and
cheerleaders who came forward to help our club meet the challenge this
winter. However,
let's bring that trophy home....in 2011 !!!
Wednesday night BBQ volunteers needed
In planning for the upcoming racing season, we
are seeking volunteers to help with the Wednesday BBQ setup and selling of
the hotdogs, hamburgers and sausages. This is not an challenging task, but
the extra hands would be helpful to the smooth running of the BBQ's. You
don't have to be present for every Wednesday night. If there are times you
could be handy to help, just let Pat know via club voicemail (469-8590) or
in person.
Friday Night BBQ menu
The
following menu will be our basic offering for Friday nights throughout the
rest of the year, but keep watching the e-news for special dishes prepared
by our volunteer chefs and occasional theme dinners. Please note that the
BBQ is "cook your own" but there is always a helping hand around if this is
not your forte.
If
possible, please reserve for the Friday BBQ by Wednesday evening - in person
to Pat at the bar or via club voicemail - 469-8590. If you have not
been able to reserve and would still like to eat on Friday, there will
always something for the grill and whatever sides and desserts are
available. Just give Pat a call when you can or drop by before 2100
hrs. The bar will be open at 6 pm and the BBQs will be fired up for cooking
at 6:30 pm.

Friday Night Dinners:
Friday night dinners, hosted by SYC club members, friends and family, have
become a tradition at SYC as our " L'Ordre de Bon
Temps" to help us get through the winter doldrums. If you would like to volunteer to help host a Friday night dinner,
Pat has a
sign-up sheet at the bar. You could also give her a
call, or leave a message, at 469-8590. Many of the times are
negotiable. If you would like to be the head chef and organize
the meal itself, here are some of the benefits you will enjoy:
-
You will
have a first class, newly renovated kitchen to work in;
-
You will
have lots of help (most meals are the result of many helpers
working together, and Pat knows who is available;
-
You will
have your choice for the menu (we are easy to please - we
love simple, down-home style cooking!);
-
You can
get an advance to cover the cost of the food you buy -
you don't have to put out your own money;
-
You will
have lots of help with the clean-up.
Sunday afternoon card games:
Come down to the club on Sunday afternoons to enjoy some card
playing from 2 - 4 pm. You don't have to be an expert card player
to participate and there are a variety of games that will be
offered. There will be an ongoing tally of winners each Sunday with
an overall winner acknowledged in April. Thanks to Marie-Lise
Dagenais and Jim Gaw for taking the lead on this new club activity.
