Fall Haul Out 2009
Most members will have noticed some changes to the yard this summer.
There is a graveled area in front of the old shed, and the corner at the
junction of the road and and the concreted yard in front of the
workshops has been leveled. In addition another spot has been created
for a large boat beyond Razzmatazz. This has been done to create more
area for boat storage. It is my intention to have the boat cradles
currently in the concreted area between the clubhouse and the workshops
moved to the area in front of the shed. Only trailer'd boats will be
stored in the workshop area. This will make it a little easier for
launch and haul out of boats needing cranes, and we won't have to
maneuver trailer boats around to let the crane get in and out. Owners
of trailers are asked to utilize the available space as well as they can
when they park their boats in the fall, so that as many as possible can
be put in that area. Boats in that area that were previously on Jack
stands may still be left in that area, but will be in the area directly
in front of the clubhouse so that their movement will not be impeded by
(or impede on) the trailer boats. Any questions, please contact Rick
Jones at 465 7100 or e mail rickjones16@hotmail.com" Large Boat Haulout, Oct 21st 2009

Day 1, 2 or 3 scheduling is not cast in stone. If you are scheduled to be amongst the first or last on a particular day, that may change depending on the progress of the lift. We hope to finish in 3 days or less. All owners must ensure either they or an authorized representative are present when their boat is lifted. Volunteers will be needed to assist in line handling, zodiacs etc. The faster we git ‘er dun the less it will cost us. Boats will not be lifted without a time card (see Barb Churnside prior to Oct, or you might be OOL).
We are aiming for a boat every ˝ hour at first, then improving to 20 mins or less as we get into the swing of things. Hopefully we’ll be able to keep the schedule, but as always, be flexible and ready for change.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spring Launch 2009 The 2009 launch dates are going to be 13, 14 , 15 May for small boats (Alt dates 20 , 21, 22 May) and 26 May for large boats (Alt dates 27, 28th May or 8 and 9th Jun) All owners of trailer boats need to ensure that their trailers are removed from the concrete pad to allow the crane access prior to 13 May. Marinas are going in early in May so I imagine most of them will have launched by then anyway. It is critical that all members be aware that boats will not be launched without the launch fees paid, proof of insurance provided and owners or their reps being present, if for some reason that is not possible, they need to contact me via e mail (not around to take phone msgs during the day) so we can work something out. We also need volunteers for line handling (all 3 days) and to man the zodiacs (2) all three days, and 1 guy to coordinate on the jetty. I am also looking for Launch day volunteers to e-mail me with the dates and jobs they want to do. (click Here to send Rick your reply). I will be
approaching Bill Clair or Rick Taillieu to be time keeper as they have
it suit-cased. Without exception, owners of boats that are not assigned a haul-out time-card must make crane arrangements for their own haul-out on a date that does not interfere with club haul-out.
All owners are reminded that the mast crane cannot be used while the Sagadore crane is in operation. Owners are also asked not to store their masts where they will impede movement of the crane or boat trailers. Owners are also asked to ensure their trailers/cradles are clearly marked with at least the boats name displayed. Volunteers are needed for haul out of large and small boats. Haulout 2007
Small Boat Haulout
Each boat owner or their designated representative is
responsible for their own lift.
Prior to the lift ensure your lifting-sling points are well
marked.
Also, have extra-long lines ready on the bow and stern to
control the boat in the air.
If we are ahead of schedule and bypass your boat you may be
charged extra to reset the crane.
It will be a long day so come early and stay to help until the
crane is secured.
Remember, your costs are a share of every minute that the crane
is on our grounds.
Please wear appropriate protective equipment and dress for the
weather.
If your engine will not start let us know ahead of time that you
need a tow.
If you cannot assist with the crane work please drop by and help
our galley crew.
The new members can drop by and see how well our volunteer teams
work.
Anyone who stays all day should please remember to sign the
volunteer log book.
A pre-haulout deposit of $125.00 must be paid before a crane
card is issued to our timer.
If you owe this deposit, or any other money to SYC, your boat
cannot be lifted.
If possible, please arrange payment at the SYC office prior to
haulout day.
Barb will also be checking her locked drop-off mailbox at the
SYC front door.
Trailer boats wishing to haul early may do so following the
large boat haulout.
Trailer boats must pay a $75.00 deposit.
Dana Govang
SYC Yard Guy
Cick on the link below for a copy of the actual small boat haulout schedule.
MAST STORAGE
Masts must be stored as high as possible on the mast racks. Unless the mast racks are full, only the largest masts or those with RADAR antennas may be stored on sawhorses at the back of the lawn. Please do not store masts on the concrete pads. Spreaders must be removed or folded against the mast. As with trailers, cradles and jack stands, all masts must be labeled with the boat name, owner's name and phone number. This will ensure that the wrong mast doesn't leave the yard with a sold boat.
HAULOUT DATES
The haulout schedule will be finalized two weeks before haulout. Many factors determine boat placement and we work hard to ensure that all members have sufficient room around their boat. Please inform the club office (469-8590) as soon as possible if you plan to: o list your boat for sale, o undertake heavy work such as sandblasting or painting, or o not launch with the other boats in the spring.
